About the Position

We are a team of fun, intelligent, happy, and hardworking co-workers (check out our team videos: https://sportsrecruits.squarespace.com/company-videos/) who occasionally take advantage of the office kegerators. We are profitable, funded and giving more high school athletes the ability to play college athletics than any other recruiting tool out there. Your input and coding/problem solving skills will make a direct impact in how we scale and grow the company.  

We are looking for a Full Stack Developer to join our team in Downtown Brooklyn, NYC. You will contribute to solving complex problems that will make our platform even better at connecting thousands of student athletes and college programs. We are working on some cool projects like building tools for clubs to manage their organization, analyzing large sets of recruiting activity data, preserving data integrity, providing better tools to help clubs understand what players are doing just to name a few.

Our two main technologies that we are investing most of our resources in are Laravel (a modern PHP framework), which we use for our API and Ember (javascript frontend framework), which currently powers the frontend application. Excitement around these technologies and writing code that adheres to SOLID principles is a huge plus. 

Responsibilities:

• Be a self-starter and a problem solver
• Write quality OOP code and follow existing development standards
• Write unit tests for your own code
• Work with the rest of the team to discuss best approaches for projects in the pipeline
• This new hire will be focusing on writing automated behavioral tests as a way of getting to learn the codebase and the product and implementing a continuous integration framework

Requirements:

• 2+ years developing web based applications
• PHP knowledge and experience is required (we use PHP7)
• Knowledge of EmberJS or similar Javascript frontend framework is required
• Experience working with 3rd party APIs
• MySQL required, REDIS or MongoDB a plus
• Experience writing automated tests is a huge plus
• Version control with Git
• Experience working with bug tracking systems including JIRA
• Comfortable with Linux environments including basic sysadmin responsibilities
